This is the close up center shot. Edited to add: A bit of directions on how to: First you take the futon frame (ff) apart. Using the seat section and the back section. Cut these two sections in half evenly. You will end up with 4 main sections, 2 shorter pieces and 2 slightly longer pieces. If you look at the full picture you will see the difference. Then we purchased approx (+-)12-1x2s [you will end up with 24 "made" shelves 6 in ea. 4 sections] at Home Dept and cut them to length for the shelves. The back wood on the shelves is the original futon the shelves the stamps sit on is the 1x2s.

Wow!! I have one of these futons sitting in my garage too! Could you please give me some insight on how your hubby went about making the changes....I am hoping that my hubby might be able to make me one too!!! Thanks for sharing your wonderful idea!!!
