I'm finishing up belated Christmas gifts for two friends of mine. These are large candle jars purchased at Michael's.
The Thomas Kinkade images are stamped on cardstock vellum with Stazon Ultramarine and colored on the back with Bashful Blue and Ballet Blue markers. A blender pen was used for shading.
I created the frames with Brilliant Blue cardstock using a Spellbinders Nestabilities Petite Small Oval and a Large Petite Scalloped Oval. The Wizard magnetic mat made this so easy to do in one pass through my Big Kick machine. The frames consist of two layers, so the vellum image can be sandwiched between them and the back is nicely finished. I colored around the edge of the front frame's opening with the Ballet Blue marker for a border, following the subtle embossed line created by the Nestabilities die. Be sure to check Ellen H's online store for all the Nestabilities and accessories: http://www.ellenhutson.com/servlet/C...ANestabilities
I cut out the vellum image with a Petite Oval die that was larger than the oval frame opening. I then stamped the image again using the Stazon Ultramarine on text weight vellum, applied adhesive around the backside edges of the previously colored image and lined it up and mounted it over the second image for more definition. I simply trimmed around the oval shape and adhered the vellum image behind the front scalloped frame and then attached the second frame behind it.
I punched a hole on each side for the gold eyelets and attached gold stretch cord, which holds the image in place. This makes it removable and reuseable for future candle jars.
The light of the candle shines very nicely through the vellum image.

Oh Linda, your images are so beautifully and subtlely colored! I'll bet the whole effect is just stunning IRL with the candles lit! I'm beginning to drool over all those TK stamps! TFS!

The color is so intense on these gorgeous images! Very delft--right on the money. I like how you've made the images reusable. These must be incredibly beautiful with the candlelight shining through!

This is stunning, I love that it's reusable too! Way too pretty to throw away once the candle's done!
