My best friend's uncle passed away this Christmas day and her dad is very saddened. They are Japanese and I wanted to make something simple but not understated. So I chose Close as a Memory because I love the words. "Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal" is stamped on the inside left panel in lower far left corner and "Your loved one will always be as close as a memory, and the God of all comfort as close as a prayer" is stamped on the right panel upper center.
I was inspired by the bonsai tree because to me it is symbolic of life on earth, as it dwarfs in comparison to eternal life, as well as how fragile life is. But with much care and nurturing, by the master, life can be full and complete and multi-dimentional and how a small bit of it (our character) spills into the next life. I don't know, that's just me trying to find meaning in life and death. Offering them comfort is all that really matters. TFL

Friends are like the walls of a house. Sometimes they hold you up, sometimes you lean on them. But sometimes, it's enough to know they're just standing by.
