Color Challenge 147- Certainly Celery, Taken with Teal, and Real Red. Whew- I had a hard time envisioning what to do with this color combination, but this is what I came up with.
When I was down at CTCA being treated for breast cancer, I made many wonderful new friends, but none there was more special than my buddy Jim. We have stayed in touch and even managed to meet up again with several others of our new friends when we returned for follow-up care. Sadly, I just found out that Jim's latest test results have showed that his cancer is not yet under control, and his prognosis not as good as was first thought. This is devastating news. *Get Well Soon* is just not appropriate in this situation, so this is the card I made for him. I hope he likes it.
It's a large card, measuring 4 3/4 X 9 inches, and mounted on very heavy watercolor paper. Perhaps he'll want to frame it. I started on Glossy White CS, and stamped Trees Three in Versamark. I embossed it with a mixture of Black and Galaxy Gold EP, giving it a blended brownish color and soft sparkle. Then I masked off the snow with torn paper, and sponged Certainly Celery, Taken with Teal, and Night of Navy Craft inks over the trees. I then sponged White craft ink sparingly over the bottom, and embossed with White EP. Using a tissue, I polished the trees, rubbing off any traces of the green inks. This gave the trees a velvety look.
The sentiment is stamped on 2 layers of paper vellum in Brilliance Galaxy Gold, with GG EP. It reads, *Take long walks in stormy weather or through deep snow in the fields or woods if you would keep your spirits up.* It's a quote by Thoreau. Don't worry- I did get the real red in there- on the Polyshrink cardinal! I stamped it in Black Staz-On and colored it with SU markers.
Thanks for looking, and Happy New Year Everyone!
Maddy

Beautiful card Maddy. There are many people we met in my husband's treatment that I wish we could see again and see how they are doing. What a hopeful supportive thing it is for you to build and have those relationships...what a great encouragment card for him!
