Since I made this a while ago, it doesn't really qualify for today's Technique Challenge, but that reminded me to finally upload this tumbled tile coaster.
I didn't think the detail on the Thomas Kinkade stamps would show up very well on a tumbled tile, but I was pleasantly surprised that the Brilliance Graphite Black ink did a pretty good job of showing the detail of this stamp. I did try to pick out a tile that was extra smooth, so I'm sure that helped.
Because I want my coasters to be absorbent, I really liked how PackerStamper made these tumbled tile coasters: Provencal Tile Coasters by PackerStamper at Splitcoaststampers The edges were masked off and aren't sealed so they're still absorbent, and that was my guide here. I masked off the edges with post-it notes and stamped the image and heat set, then covered the image with a very light coating of Versamark.
NOTE: Make sure not to get the Versamark too thick or it will be gooey, won't dry completely and can chip off later (ask me how I know that).
I colored the image with SU! chalks using cosmetic applicators. Keeping the post-it notes in place, I sprayed the image with workable fixative, added a little more color here and there, then gave it a couple more spray coats of fixative.
