My Peace Love Joy Advent Calendar made with Beate's instructions. I made this calendar for my teenagers. Seems like we're always going in different directions. As I made this calendar I quizzed my kids about the things they love to do this time of year. I'm sure they'd love to have candy in every tin, but at least 12 of them will have slips of paper with the activities they treasure this time of year. I'm going to use this calendar to help schedule these events rather than running out of time and letting them slip by. Things like driving around and looking at the lights, making gingerbread houses, playing a Christmas board game, and taking cookies to the firehouse to name a few.
The picture of this calendar looks a bit busy, but in person it is very festive and merry. I didn't have a scallop punch for the front of the tins, but had a flower like punch that allowed me to use 2 different colors of paper to make peppermints and spearmints on each tin.
For the background I used a paper called Christmas tiles. I've loved this paper for a couple years and hadn't know what to do with it. This project was just perfect. I like the holiday stamp effect.

You've done a wonderful job, I love the peppermints on the lids.

I love this -- I am so jealous -- I would love to make one of these but we can not get the little tins over here and for me to order them and convert to NZ dollars would end up costing me heaps -- You did an amazing job with this I love the peppermint and spearmint look you gave the lids.......... I really love your idea of putting family things to do in the tins. I have three young boys, and I really want to have traditions like those you mentioned in our family. I think too often we get wrapped up in the hurry up of the holiday season, and we forget what it really is all about. I plan to put family "to do" things as well as parts of the Christmas story and family traditions going back to my grandparents' childhood to help my boys remember each year all we have to be thankful for. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful and inspirational calander!

I love your calendar.. Time has run out for me this year but it will be on my list for next year. Hey, I might even start it right after Christmas since I always seem to run out of time.
