This is one of those progressive cards - you know, you start with an idea and end up with something a bit different? LOL!
I started by stamping the sentiment panel and matting it with Forest Foliage. I stamped just the "O" in Joy and embossed it with silver sparkle embossing powder on a Forest Foliage circle, then pop-dotted it onto the Joy sentiment. I created a few more to put on the left side of the card later. Moving on, I matted the patterned paper and used my double-slot punch across the top. I created my bow using a variation of Hoosierstamper and Allee's technique (scroll down to post #2 and 5)-
I threaded the ends of the ribbon through the double slot punches across the cards to give it a knobbly appearance, then took leftover ribbon and began adding my "tails" to the bow. Then, it happened.... I ripped the paper holding the bow together, and my bow fell apart!!! AARGHH! Not that this is tragic by any means, just one of those "hhummpphff - I should have known better" moments. OK, how do I salvage this? I had to pin the middle of the bow somehow, so I used a large brad and poked it through the little, sparkly gold snowflake. I gathered the center of ribbon and pushed a bit of it down into the hole I just made and set it in all in place with the tails of the brad. Tugged a few times and it didn't give way. Good! Ditching the green embossed "O's" - I used additional sparkly, gold snowflakes and small brads to finish embellishing the card. I had to use popdots for the large background panel because of the ribbon bulk on the backside of it. I like how the card turned out - it sparkles more with the snowflakes, and I think my little boo-boo actually improved the look.
TFL!
