One of the first techniques that really dazzled me when I started stamping is Glitter Painting. It still does. I've been meaning to make a card with this technique using this Sandi Miller stamp of water lilies, so I decided to use a portion of it for my swap ATC. The photo shows quite a bit of the sparkle, but of course it's much better IRL.
I stamped the acetate with the water lilies image using Versamark and detail black EP, then colored them on the back with Peel Off's permanent markers. I did some shading and blending with q-tips dipped in 90% rubbing alcohol. The acetate is mounted behind the oval window cut out of the black cardstock. Most of the sparkle is from a layer of white cardstock that I ran through the xyron and covered with DD glitter, over which I layered the glittered and colored acetate. I only did the glitter painting behind the flowers, which produced a kind of 3D look - quite unintentional, but I like the effect.
The pink oval frame on the front is made with one of the Thomas Kinkade oval vignette stamps: http://www.cornishheritagefarms.com/...3iv95dlo32ipi1 I stamped the image with Versamark on light pink marble cardstock (that was stamped with the CHF Weave backgrounder using Pretty in Pink), then heat embossed with Moonglow's Midnight Pewter Obsidian EP. I cut closely along the rectangle border's lines and also cut out the oval to create another window. The ticket corner punch was used on the corners and the Versamarker added back the EP. The resulting pink "frame" was then layered over the oval window in the black layer.
One of the best things about this technique is you get all the sparkle of the glitter but it is contained and sealed behind the acetate. SAFE GLITTER! :o)

Now this ATC is a prize for anyone's collection! What a gem! It looks like stained glass only prettier with more sparkle. Oh, that sparkle will get me every time and I really must use it more often. Thanks for the links and information on this beauty. A stop at your gallery is like going to a techniques website and always worth the time!

What a gorgeous little ATC -- wish I was in on that swap!!! I love what you did and how you explained it all so well -- I can always count on you for full instructions!!! Every time I see one of your uploads I feel like such a Plain Jane stamper -- I just don't use any techniques at all -- I just stamp -- LOL!!! I'm so anxious to try the vellum embossing we talked about!!!
