Please allow me to impersonate Mothermark herein and tell my sad story.
Yeah, yeah, yeah! I can hear you right now saying, "What was she thinking?" or "Man, this sure is a stupid card." Well, I've been racking my feeble brain all day at work for an idea for today's Technique challenge to use something unexpected. So many of you have already had the awesome ideas and, if you know me, I just GOTTA do a challenge card whenever possible.
So, I'm telling my husband about today's challenge and this other stupid idea I had (which I won't mention here), and he says, 'You know, I've got some pins you could take a look at and maybe come up with something.' I'm rummaging through them; I see Smokey; I instantly think of my dad teaching us fire safety when we were little and camping; and I remember the Smokey the Bear signs at the campgrounds and this line from when I was a kid. The line is a little different today, but this is my memory and my story, so I'm using the original version.
Anyhoo, maybe I could make it a birthday card for my dad and have the inside read something like: 'So watch it when you blow out your birthday candles!' or some other corny line like that. But, then, I'd have to tell my dad that I need the Smokey the Bear pin back because it belongs to DH whose owned it for like a jillion years. Kinda tacky, huh? Maybe I should just take this one apart and start over with some other stupid idea.
If you opened my thumbnail, I thank you. If you didn't, thank yourself. In any event, I had fun, as always!
Onward and upward!

Charlene, that is too funny! I can just see you telling your dad you need the pin back!! But at least he'd know you were paying attention as a kid. It is a cute card -- not stupid at all. I still haven't come up with an idea, and I've been thinking about it all day.

Love the story as much as the card - yep, I remember Smokey saying, "Only YOU can prevent fires!" Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane (the lane gets longer every day!)
