What fun this inspiration challenge was! I thought that a Criss-cross card would be the perfect way to imitate the birthday cake. I've never seen cakes that were such works of art!!! Here is a link to the challenge: Forums at Splitcoaststampers
Polka-dot layer is Heated Pearls (violet interference on white) with holes punched in it so the black BG will show through. I thought the heated pearls really looked like frosting!
Harlequin layer is the opposite of the cake because I chose to do white on black.
The Pink layer is shaving cream and I dyed white organdy ribbon with rose red.
Scallops are punched with a slit punch and the rose red scallops are uneven on purpose to imitate the cake.
And NO I didn't do all these techniques especially for this challenge. The heated pearls and shaving cream were from my stash.

Love this!! The heated pearls is genius to add - what awesome texture it lends to the card. And the scallop border is too cool - I love that you offset them. Thanks for playing!
