I'm back in Hawaii and the Chinese New Year is widely celebrated here. It used to be ushered in with unending firecrackers. Thankfully the fireworks have been regulated in the past few years so we can breathe and sleep better. One tradition of the new year that remains is Lai See (red envelope) that contains a monetary gift for the receipient. (Now you know how "that company" got their name.) My version has an inside pull out pocket that contains money or a gift card.

Friends are like the walls of a house. Sometimes they hold you up, sometimes you lean on them. But sometimes, it's enough to know they're just standing by.
