I have been thinking about this idea for a couple of days, and I'm tickled by the way it turned out! You see, I am a child of the '80's. I received my first copy of The Official Preppy Handbook in 5th grade, and I didn't realize at the time that it was a parody. You would not believe how much that little book informed my sensibilities!! I still get the warm fuzzies anytime I see a bermuda bag, Tretorn tennis shoes (which the latest Garnet Hill catalog is carrying! Woo hoo!), or Lilly Pulitzer prints. Favorite color combo? You guessed it -- pink and green. Always has been. Always will be.
Note for you youngsters: I know the crocodile shirts are now referred to as Lacostes, but in the olden days -- prior to the family fued that broke up the Izod Lacoste company -- we called them Izods.
Anyway, here's one for all the Preppys in the house! (Color scheme was selected to participate in Color Challenge 101 which was to use Garden Green, Pretty in Pink, and Not Quite Navy; naturally, I plan to do this another of these with a pink shirt. )
As if this description isn't long enough, here are a few details about the actual card: placket was backstitched with white floss. Collar corner and gator are raised on 3-D dots.
