Easy No Template Envelopes

Making a simple square envelope is quick and easy ~ no template needed. Measure your finished greeting card, and add ease of 1/4" (more if you layer or use bulky embellishments) to cut a folding template out of heavy weight cardstock (cereal box weight). Next, measure the diagonal of the folding template, and add 1/4" (plus) to get the measurement for the envelope paper square and cut your squares this measurement. Lightly pinch the halfway point on each side of the square in half, and clip out a very small triangle. This step gives you the overlap to glue the envelope together. Lay the folding template diagonally on top of the paper square and crease each side of the envelope. Remove the folding template, fold the 2 side flaps of the envelope toward the center, place a narrow bead of Crystal Effects on the lower edges of the 2 flaps, and fold the bottom triangle of the envelope up to glue onto the side flaps. After you insert the card, use a decorated round sticker to seal the envelope.
Example: a half sheet of CS sliced into thirds makes 3 ~ 2-5/8" gift enclosure cards. Cut a 2-7/8" (cut scant) folding template, and 4-1/4" squares work perfectly ~ and you get 4 per sheet of paper!
Practice with copy paper, and then use designer paper if you wish, but I usually just use plain copy paper, and stamp something to coordinate on the front corner. Use Little Pieces or any tiny stamps to decorate a plain white sticker to use for an envelope closure.
