I made a batch of these to put in the baskets we've been making to give away to our local cancer patients. (Also putting packs of stamped mulit-occassion cards, mints, hand lotion, lip balm, beaded pen, and a stamped candles inside).
I used a metal edge and glass frame instead of the plastic $1.00 frames. I wanted more stability and a richer look to them. Decided it needed a polyshrink charm to finish it off. The note pads on this one are heart shaped but I've left enough room in the design to place a standard post it pad in the space without covering up the "Hope is on the Horizon" poem. Now to make some matching beaded pens.

Oh, Colleen! I love these! I will be casing you for sure! I really love the fishy friends one, too. Better get busy now...it's Halloween tomorrow already! Tic, toc, tic, toc...
I've shared in the struggle and subsequent loss of family members and a good friend who had cancer. This poem really spoke to me. (Though I like the first three verses better than the last two.) Here is what it says . . .
Hope on the Horizon
Do you know what Hope is?
It's magic and it's free.
It's not in a prescription,
It's not in an IV.
Do you know what Hope is?
It's reaching past today.
It's dreaming of tomorrow.
It's trying a new way.
It's pushing past impossible,
It's pounding on the door.
It's questioning the answers,
It's always seeking more.
It's rumors of a breakthrough
It's whispers of a cure,
A roller coaster ride,
Of remedies, unsure.
Do you know what Hope is?
It's candy for the soul.
It's perfume for the spirit,
If you share, it makes you whole.
[I]I just love this! I have to pass it along to my niece,"Hope".
Would you believe she is an x-ray tech. that specializes in mammograms? She started a cancer awareness night a few years back at the hospital she works at after a fellow worker died of Breast Cancer. She is always looking for ideas for gifts to give out. I will have to take a pic. and post her idea for this years project. Thanks for yours!
