I had a three-day weekend for Veteran's Day and this is the only card I managed to do. Argh! This is my brother's birthday card...it's late, but I sent a package on time so that's an improvement.
The black paper is stuff I've been hoarding since I worked at a scrapbook store when I was in college. It's kind of strange, it's very lightweight and doesn't really have the same texture as most paper. I'll need to do another card or two with more of it showing to show off the pattern in it since it's pretty neat, and this scan totally doesn't do it justice. It's got gray, red, white, and gold in it and unfortunately I covered up the fan on this piece. The colors on this card are much better IRL...the mats are shiny GOLD, not funky green, and you can't hardly tell in the scan, but I did the Chinese calligraphy stamp in Real Red ink on the Real Red panel (and I cheated...I only stamped the bits you can see after I put the other pieces on top!). Bamboo is stamped with Old Olive ink on the card base and I watercolored the panda with Old Olive, Close to Cocoa, and a teeny bit of Going Gray to give it a little depth. I'm not too sure about the happy birthday part on the bottom, but it's stuck on there good so I guess it's staying.
I have the She-Ra: Princess of Power theme song stuck in my head. Which has nothing to do with this card, but I thought I'd share My husband thinks I'm a little bit crazy, but I want the DVDs.

Friends are like the walls of a house. Sometimes they hold you up, sometimes you lean on them. But sometimes, it's enough to know they're just standing by.
