The Alpha Challenge for the letter M this round is to create a monochrome card. As we were just getting home from our April mountain escape, I took advantage of the week off between letters to get my supplies unpacked and get back into some routines at home.
Dear friends are celebrating their 60th anniversary and when I saw this beautiful card in the gallery of this week's Featured Stamper, kmberger (Kathy), I decided to CASE it.
I used dies by Taylored Expression and Sizzix to create my layers. I put a layer of vellum behind the opening so that I could give the flowers in the centre some stability. Used liquid pearls in the flower centres as I need the card to be flat for mailing. Added some shimmer pen highlights to the Happy Anniversary die-cut.
Because the vellum is translucent and I didn't want the inside sentiment to show through, I created a little flap in the same same shape as the front opening that flips up to reveal the sentiment. I also die-cut a layer of thin white for the inside to fit around the sentiment flap just to pretty it up.

The white on white layers create a refined monochrome look, and the delicate die cut details with the vellum support give the anniversary design a graceful, lace like elegance that suits the milestone beautifully.

Oh, I like the idea of underlaying that bit of vellum to add stability to an intricate die cut design - while keeping your beautiful white on white intact. Fabulous case of your inspiration and a card I'm sure you friends will treasure.
