WT1100 - Wise Words (use definitions or sentiments that are wise on your card or words related to graduation)

For my card, I pulled out an old dictionary a friend passed along when he was downsizing. The aged pages make a wonderful background and felt perfect for a note card. I layered a torn section on cream cardstock, then added a black mat for contrast.

Next, I stamped the Paint Brush Lineup image in black on cream cardstock and layered it on black to match the background panel. I stamped the Just a Note sentiment on cream, added it to the dictionary layer, and popped the paintbrush image up on dimensionals to finish the design with a bit of lift.

A creative and lovely way to use this old dictionary page, Lisa. (Are they like encyclopedias and gone the way of the dinosaurs?) Love the warm tones and your array of writing instruments....perfect!

Nice use of that dictionary page. You found a great page full of arcane words, for sure. I used to have an old theraurus to use for backgrounds, although I don't know where it's disappeared to.

Great card for the wise words challenge. We downsized and moved last summer and I sincerely hope that somewhere in the boxes that I kept I will find my old, very worn dictionary - it was missing part of its back cover and I had scrawled "Dick Shaun Harry" across the spine. I've lugged him around throughout every move since high school. Always thought I'd use pages for art creations but I never could bring myself to rip out any pages! Maybe if he shows up this will have inspired me.

Dictionary pages are always fun to use on a card. The image goes well with the idea of the written word.
