This week's Alpha Challenge (ABC24J10) is to use jewel colours on our cards. So, I Googled "jewel colours", and discovered that leaves the door pretty wide open.
I had coloured several of these Tim Holtz Wildflowers some time ago so picked the most vibrant ones from the pile. They were cut from watercolour paper and coloured with distress inks and an aqua pen. My flower and foliage colours could be any of the following jewels:
Orange - Topaz, Sapphire, Carnelian, Garnet, Zircon all come in orange tones.
Purple - Amethyst, Sapphire, Zircon, Garnet, Tanzanite all come in purple tones.
Red - Garnet, Jade, Jasper, Onyx, Opal, Ruby Sapphire all come in red tones.
Green - Emerald, Peridot, Jade, Garnet, Onyx, Sapphire all come in green tones.
The green background is from a piece of cardstock that was on my desk from a 12"x12" Recollections pad called Ink Splatters - it's been a wonderful pad - I'll be sad to eventually use it all up. It has silver highlights all over it and sparkles in the light. The flowers have all had a touch of iridescent Stickles applied. Stamped and die-cut a quick hello sentiment. Inside there is a flower that matches the reddish lily from the front with a simple "Wishing you a happy day" sentiment. Also stamped Psalm 118:24 verse on the back of the card. "This is the day..."
I love how this turned out - it was fun to put together (and it felt good to finally get those flowers on a card)! Thanks for stopping by.
The mountains are calling and I must go... Will pop in when I can.

Great card! I love the Stickles you added to the flowers -- it makes them sparkle like they're covered in morning dew. And the sparkly background paper compliments them perfectly.
I have to get my die out like that and color them and have ready. Great idea. Beautifully designed! Have you seen Lydia’s watercolor video today, from the newsletter? This card reminds me of what she did.
