Nancy gave us a choice of 3 Featured Stampers from 2009 as our 5th Sunday Blast from the Past
I chose FS101 Jaydekay (Judy) to case as my Featured Stamper this week, settling on this Sunflower Hello as my inspiration.
Things I changed: Different crazy bird, sponged bg instead of die cut panel, added sentiments, tiny violets instead of sunflowers.
I have always wanted to try doing a long-legged crazy bird so I jumped into the deep end of the pool today. I stamped the bird a few times on plain paper to practice drawing long skinny bird legs with oversized cartoon shoes but in the end the ones I drew on cardstock were nothing like the others as each set took on a life of their own.
I stamped the top two-thirds of the crazy bird, elongated just a bit with the sharpie and colored with prismacolor pencils. I have an accessory set but it only has men's hats so I also hand drew and colored several style of womens hats. Once done, I fussy cut bird, hats and skinny legs. I decided to add a lace skirt to my bird's outfit and some Nuvo drop embellies.
I sponged a bg on my card and spattered with water to lift a bit of the color - arranged the bird pieces then stamped some fun Unity sayings. It felt like it needed "something" but sequins didn't work so finally I scribbled some more of the violet color on some cardstock then die cut the tiny SB flowers which is just the punch I wanted.

Oh, I haven't been making cards for a long time. What a fun surprise to get a notification today that I was one of the featured past stampers.
Thank you for making this super special card, using my little birdie for an inspiration! Thank you!

Linda, this is so fun! I love how you altered the crazy bird and I love those cool long legs. How fun that you have done something you always wanted to do too. Very cool case/card. Love it. Hugz

What a terrific CASE!! I love your crazy bird. I think you did an amazing job on the legs, shoes, and hat! I know exactly what you mean about each practice looking different than the final. So much of the time I prefer my practice to the one I actually put down on watercolor paper or card stock. I love the little lace skirt you added. And the background is soft and pretty!

I love that you gave your crazy little bird those wonky long legs. The skirt is adorable. Such a fun card.

The long‑legged makeover on this crazy bird is such a delight. The hand‑drawn legs and oversized shoes give her so much personality, and the little lace skirt and custom hats make the whole design feel wonderfully theatrical. The softly sponged background sets everything off beautifully, and those tiny violet blooms are the perfect finishing touch.
