WT1098 ~ the Raven
Added to Favorite

Photo Details
Poster: Redbugdriver

WT1098 - Sabrina has us thinking about Caxton & Aesop

I don't know what I was thinking but when I saw her 'suggested' animals & one was a raven, I thought of this set right off. But now I don't know what I was really thinking about. I just might go around again & use my zoo set!! I stamped using MISTI & used a dab of crystal effects for the eye, but it just didn't show up. So I thought the eye should be red, so I used a gem.
I don't know ... this just might go into the circular file. But I did die cut the letters using an alphabet from My Favorite Things. Oh well, this is what it is ....
Any suggestions welcomed.

Thanks for stopping by.

PS - I did change the E to an H - it just made sense to me to do that

I think the gem works really well as the eye. And "quote" is so close to quoth and with the raven it comes to mind, so if you have any use for Halloween cards you could put that quote on the inside, "Qoth the Raven, nevermore!"

Hey Bugz! The jewel makes a great eye for your raven. I too have made cards for a challenge and looked at them and wondered just who I'd send it too. But the creating is always fun. Sabrina had a good suggestion... ;-)

I agree with Sabrina - great eye and definitely you could put that quote inside. You just have to send it someone who loves Poe (like me - lol). Hugz

Great looking CAS card, Karen. When I saw your card, Poe came to mind with the raven quoting "nevermore".

I like the bold simplicity of this and the red gem looks great as his eye. Great suggestion from Sabrina. If I was tweaking anything, I might try extending the branch out to the left so it goes off the edge of the panel. Maybe try with very faint pencil lines first and see how you like it? You can always erase them if it looks like it’s not working.

The stark black and white palette gives your raven such a striking presence, and that single red gem adds just the right touch of intensity. The clean layout lets the silhouette and lettering take center stage, and the crisp die‑cut alphabet feels bold without overwhelming the image. I like how the branch anchors the scene, and the overall simplicity makes the design feel confident and intentional.
