 | | Today's Tea Party is for Marilyn in Alabama. She recently lost her husband and also underwent back surgery. They loved camping and the outdoors, so Nancy has challenged us to make camping and nature themed cards. Mine ended up a little more cutesy than probably she intended, but I am what I am. The idea of camping and nature inspired me to get out the Riverside Backdrop die, that I bought in November. When I went looking for camping stamps, I thought that these bears would fit this scene well.
I also decided when I looked at the TLC1100 Challenge that this die would be fun to create a patchwork of techniques. So I chose Scrap Painting for the water. It didn't come out great, because I was trying to follow the shape of the river with my scraping and it ended up messy. Then I of course went with TLC590 Cloudy Backgrounds for the sky. And finished the land with my favorite TLC of all time - DIY plaid. Basically I love any TLC that doesn't involve a fun fold :0)
This ended up being a scene of female bears fishing, because they had to wear pink scarves for the Color Challenge.
I felt like this card was a total mess while I was making it, but once I got it assembled and added finishing touches like Stickles, gel pen, the grass and rocks from the die set, etc, I decided that I really like it.
And of course I made two. So I will send them both to Marilyn, because Nancy tells us she loves to send cards of encouragement for church ministry. |
