I did find and download a free printable with a nice playing card design, but then I went hunting through a box of oddments. I do have some old playing cards, but they're all ones I'm reluctant to use, like my mother's childhood set of Snow White, and my childhood Little Grey Rabbit ones, and a very nice set with birds.
The King Lion was a postcard with a design by Belinda Northcote - I think it came with something I had ordered a few years back and I was pleasantly surprised to be able to find it to use today as a change from Snoopy and Rerun playing Go Fish. I sponged my base with scattered straw and dried marigold, and stamped an old crown in green round the edges, and a star in purple in the corners. I added a couple of Spellbinders corners cut from matt gold, and an Altenew sentiment matted on gold.
This will be a birthday card for one of my nephews. |
