WT1094 Man in Black
Added to Favorite

Photo Details
Poster: Holstein

Sabrina is our hostess this week and she is celebrating Johnny Cash's birthday. Being a country girl, he is one of my all-time favorite singers. Tried something different today. Usually when I do the one-stroke painting I use white acrylic paint, this time used white gouache. Using a flat brush, stipple and rigger to complete the painting. Used the simple stylus for the dots. I had fun making this card. TFL

Linda, this is absolutely stunning! You worked wonders with your gouache. Your petals have such a delicate transparency and elegance. What a wonderful, creative stroke you had with this beautiful floral.

I love this look. I've never seen anything quite like it. Love how each petal is distinct and how the white dots add definition and depth.

That is just so beautiful, Linda. When I first saw it I thought it was one of those lovely floral embossing folders I've seen you do amazing things with, but once I clicked through it was obviously one of your painted gems. It's amazing the amount of depth and texture you get. On the Bazzill (or whatever) cardstock it makes the larger flowers look like gauze.

The contrast of the white gouache against the black linen is striking, and your one‑stroke work gives each petal a soft, luminous lift. The stippled centers and tiny stylus dots add such clean definition, almost like the flowers are glowing from within. The texture of the cardstock enhances the gauzy feel in the larger blooms, making the whole piece look dimensional and elegant.

Stunning painting! I love the semitransparent look of the gouache. The shapes of the flowers are beautiful!
