 | | Welcome to the TLC for today! Today we're going to explore the art of sgrafitto, which is Italian for 'scratching'.
Usually sgrafitto is used in making pottery but there are ways to apply it to card making. For the example on the left, I painted a wc panel with copper acrylic paint, let it dry, painted over it with a royal blue acrylic, then scratched a pattern. You can see the copper through the scratches.
The second example uses an acrylic painted wc panel, letting it dry, then spreading a metallic paste over that paint and scratching through the paste. I used too think of an application of paste so if you're going to try this, use a thinner layer. It does take a bit to dry if it is too thick. You can see the copper paint through the paste.
I guess I was obsessed with feathers today as all three cards have them. I hope you give this a try; it was a lot of fun. |
