WT1086 birch trees

Lisa has challenged us to a theme of new beginnings -- which could include using something new, trying something new, or using something symbolic. My card features some birch tree, using new dies. Birch trees also symbolize new beginnings, regrowth and resilience. For the card, I painted the sky with watercolors, let it dry. Added bits of black watercolor to make the bark on the trees look like birch bark. After adhering the trees, added a few birds in the trees and some shadows on the snow.

A serene and beautifully balanced take on New Beginnings. The soft watercolor sky sets such a hopeful tone, and the birch trunks feel fresh and full of quiet strength. The hand‑painted bark details add wonderful character, and the little red birds bring just the right touch of life against the winter light. The shadows in the snow ground the whole scene and make the moment feel calm and newly unfolding.
