For Teapot Tuesday, we are saluting the various birds mentioned in the 12 Days of Christmas. This Bugaboo image of a French hen just cracks me up. I honestly don't know what a French hen looks like, so I did a little googling. Looks like there are several different birds in the category, so my coloring is sort of a mixture of several types. I am sure I read that some French hens have blue legs, and I wasn't going to skimp on that detail. However, the beret and glass of wine seem like distinguishing features as well. I thought I had a Bonjour stamp, but couldn't find it, so I just hand-lettered the sentiment. It has the tiniest bit of sparkle to it, as does the beret, thanks to some Faber-Castell metallic highlighters I picked up at a steep discount while Christmas shopping.

Ha! The other stamp I nearly used is a PB one with a hen holding a glass of one, but I've used it quite often and my Woodward one was still uninked. Yes, certainly we should share the baguette, though cheese would be better than seeds. I can really see the sparkle in his beret, those must be cool pens. The only specific French hen breed I know anything about at all is the Marans, because we have camped several times in that area as a short stop on our way further south.
