 | | I thought I would have an easy time with Mary's beautiful Night of Navy, Silver combo with New (Years or supply) for dessert, but the typical of idea of Shiny and New wasn't quite working for the "new" Gears & Textures bundle and all the shiny silver gears I had cut up. Never fear though! The neutral, Pecan Pie came to the rescue to give my gears the rusty grunge feel they were missing.
After experimenting with a few ways of inking/weathering the metallic pieces I ended up sanding them to give a little tooth for some of the ink to stick. While my gears were trial and error and gathered a few wrinkles as I worked, I suggest backing them up with an extra layer of cardstock before grabbing your sanding block. I added the extra layer afterwards anyway to give them a stiffer appearance as I layered them.
I pulled out Lifetime Of Love for the leaves and greeting. I thought they went well with the subtle navy botanical print. The Pecan border is stamped cardstock. I couldn't resist using the rusty chain for a little border. |
