Snowflake Inchie Card by ValerieKaye at Splitcoaststampers
I love paper quilt type cards. So, I was drawn to this one right away. It has that look. Thank you, Valerie for posting on your blog where you learned of this technique. The video made it a lot easier! It is a great way to use up scraps.
I started with a 3.25 x 4.75 panel of Very Vanilla. My goal is to use up retired colors. So, I utilized these Holiday Thyme DSP and Bravo Burgundy papers. Old Olive is still a current color. I cut 1" squares of the DSP and glued them in the vertical pattern.
My changes: A colored card base, changed colors, used thread instead of a large snowflake, heat embossed the sentiment, die-cut into banner, popped it up and stamped the card base.
With VersaMark ink, I stamped with the original wood-mount Linen background stamp. With the tips of my fingers, I pick up some gold embossing powder and sprinkled it around the edges purposely not covering all the ink. Then I heat embossed it. I do not think I have ever done that before, but it added a lovely shine here and there around the edge.
I would definitely make this design again. Thank you, Valerie for sharing your wonderful cards with us and for inspiring me today. TFL |
