Fun With Blocks
Added to Favorite

Photo Details
Poster: jkanack

I don't know where my time goes or what I'm doing half the time. I had done Karen's TLC on Monday but not used my piece until now. I used scrap strips of paper instead of a full sheet and DOx inks. I like the uneven size of the strips and I used up stash.
I'm also submitting this for today's WT-toys. My card is more about play. Using yesterday's sketch, I cut the paper strip panel into four 'blocks' and stenciled a block image underneath. In deciding what floral image to use, I thought I'd choose something like a dandelion because what Mom or Dad hasn't received a bouquet of dandelions from their little one? And little and big ones require sunny days for play, although our sunny days have been way too hot. I'm already tired of it.
Here is a quotation for you: 'People tend to forget that play is serious.'
Thanks for all these challenges!

Jean, your creative use/placement of the blocks of color looks great. The beautiful flower completes the design on this lovely car!

Wonderful warm colour palette to pair with the sunny sentiment. I like the irregular strips.

I adore your pretty color choices, Jean! Your different patterns and shades of color make this a very creative piece of art.

What a cool way to do this challenge with the stripes. I never thought to cut them into blocks. I'm going to have to keep this in mind when I'm using up scraps of designer paper.

Very cool card design and use of your artsy blocks, Jean. Super colors too.

I am ready for the cooler fall days - they are so much better for play.

These paper block panels are such a playful and inspired use of scraps—I love the uneven sizes and how they come together with the stenciled layer to suggest a sense of motion and fun. The dandelion image is a beautiful and nostalgic choice, especially paired with that quote about play. This card feels like sunshine, memory, and creativity all rolled into one!
