 | | Last week's Inspiration Challenge sent us to The French Tangerine. Wow! I could spend a week just making cards inspired by the gorgeous photos on its Pintrest Board...and I may actually do that!
But everyone needs to start somewhere, and I started with this delicious tart:

It reminded me of some berry patterned paper that I'd been hoarding. So I pulled that out.
Then I remembered this set of berry stamps that I'd never inked up. I stamped each berry twice -- once on red paper and once on green paper. Then I fussy cut all the berries. For the green ones, I cut out the whole image (including leaves), and for the red ones I just cut out the actual berry. Finally, I did some easy paper piecing, gluing the red berries onto the green ones.
Since the paper was so pretty, I wanted to do a design that would leave a lot of it showing. I started with my only scalloped die, because it echoed the ridges on the berries. Then I die cut a circle of beige paper to put in its center. That was okay, but it still needed a little more. So I die cut the slightly larger red circle in the same red that I used for the berries, in order to create a red border around the beige circle.
Next, I stamped the sentiment, which I got as part of a PIF (Thank you, Lercy!). I cut it out using some fancy frame dies that I got in a bag of craft supplies at the thrift store. There was no brand name on them, and I was worried that they might be low quality knock-offs from China. But they work really well.
Lastly, I glued everything together, using some foam tape to pop up the largest berry. And, because I love bling, I added four red gems to the sentiment. |
