 | | I can't believe my baby turned 10 today! He's been playing Floor Hockey this winter and he scored a hat trick in last week's game, so I decided to celebrate that achievement with a hockey themed card today. He woke up this morning looking for his birthday card but it wasn't quite done. The Layered Gesso Background took me a long time to do. Layered Gesso Background is probably my most favorite mixed media background to make. For this one, I started by designing this "10" shaped card in Brother Canvas Workspace and layered gesso, random small SU stamps (there's a trophy, a goalie mask, a microphone, and a guitar), yellow acrylic paint (a hockey card obviously needs Bruins colors), more gesso, gold Gelatos, gold Nuvo mousse, and gold Nuvo mousse spread through a star stencil. I had the card laid flat (not folded yet) and covered both the front and back, but I made such a mess that the inside got all kinds of paint and such in it. So I cut another "10" card template and glued it inside this one. I stamped, colored, and fussy cut the hockey player and added him on an action wobble. Then I stamped "Happy" in Lawn Fawn Crunchy Leaf which I thought was very much the color of the year (Mocha Mousse), but I think it's more brownish. That Mocha Mousse is a very difficult color to match, but I tried and I'm adding to the challenge gallery anyway, because it's very much a mixed media card. I'm happy to report that Raleigh did get his card before he left for school this morning and he liked it. |
