 | | I'm back with another card for this week's sketch, this time doing a snow globe of sorts. This is also for the F4A-BLUE! and the MIX. Dina has given a choice of colors, focusing on the colors of the military for Veteran's Day.
My paternal grandfather and my Dad were both in the army. My grandfather enlisted during WWI, was about to go to France when the Armistice happened. My Dad, having graduated high school in 1941, enlisted in 1943, served in the states for a while and then went to the Pacific. I'm lucky to be here because he was on an island that was supposed to be invaded but the army prevented a large-scale invasion by not being fooled by a withdrawal of ships. My parents were both very active after the war with an Amvet group and i remember lots of good times at the club house.
I used a stash alcohol ink background for my globe, adding some left over stars from another project. The background is an SU cloud ef, brayered with tumbled glass. The 'peace' on the banner is an embossing folder/die set. I added some tumbled glass and SU pacific point ink to it, then outlined with a blue Micron pen.
Peace on earth is a sentiment very much in doubt in this country and world these days. I'm afraid for Ukraine, the middle east and us. Thanks for the challenges! |
