 | | For Dina' MX600 yesterday:MIX600 - Kimono Card (7/26/24) by dini at Splitcoaststampers
This had been on my list as something to try, so although it was too late yesterday I made time for it this morning and had time to think about how to make it without pretty papers so as to make it a MIXed media project.
Kimono Card Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers
What I did was cut my lightweight card to size, and fold it. This because I only had two stencils large enough to cover the full piece, and neither was suitable. The TH ones are even narrower than 6", so after folding I inked my stencil, spritzed it and did a monoprint on one half, with the other half masked off. Repeated on the other side and back.
I sponged the inside with the same green, and while it's hard to see in the photo, it's stamped over with a little background swirl in Delicata gold.
My obi is some kitchen paper that I had been mopping up my glass mat with after a Brusho and Pixie Powder session. I cut my white card to size and stuck the kitchen towel on and trimmed to size. The seam binding was dyed with Mermaid marker and water left on my glass mat after making some wrinkle free distress backgrounds.
Not heavily mixed media and most of them were by-products, but there are markers, watercolour powders and distress oxide inks. |
