I used a number 2 pencil and sketched some peonies onto parchment paper. I then flipped the parchment paper onto my journal. Rubbing in the back transfers the pencil lines to the journal. I like doing it this way instead of just drawing on the journal because the lines are more subtle and easier to erase once my watercoloring is done. I know the video showed flowers first then leaves. That is how I usually do it but today I was a rebel and painted the leaves first and then the peonies. I didnât want my leaves to be an afterthought. I added in some little yellow flowers. I added gold highlights to the yellow flowers. I also doodled gold frame. I used sharpie marker to outline edge and a graphic marker (.05) to doodle between the gold and the sharpie edge.

Beautiful journal painting page with the lovely peonies. I have to try your parchment paper technique. Your filler flowers add a nice touch. Thanks for sharing with us this week. Always enjoy your lovely original paintings.

Peonies are always beautiful when opened and I am glad you opened some of yours up but also left one in a bud. Good work on the challenge and you have an awesome painting now.
