Every year in May, Lafayette has "Art Around The Fountain". Artists from all around Indiana come and set up booths on the courthouse grounds (which feature a fountain dedicated to General La Fayette).
I started my card with a picture that reminded me of the sort of painting you might see being sold there.
To frame it, I took a piece of white scalloped cardstock and pressure embossed it with a Cuttlebug folder. Then I painted it with "Sunset Gold" Lumiere paint. After that, I wanted to age it a little, and bring out the embossed detail a bit more, so I sponged on a little alcohol ink ("Ginger" by Tim Holtz).
After that was dry, I cut out a square from the center of the cardstock. Note to future self -- make the square a little smaller than the image you want to frame. LOL!
As I was assembling everything, it occurred to me that putting a piece of transparency over the picture would be like having a piece of glass in the frame. So I cut a piece to size, and assembled all the layers with glue. However, even after the glue dried, I wanted something more holding everything together, so I added some brads.
With the main image complete, the rest was pretty easy. I chose the backing paper ("Autumn Love Story" by ITD) because our courthouse has a dome like the one seen in the top right corner. It was layered on some gold paper to match the picture frame, and then finally on a black card base.
For finishing details, I added the charm with a picture of a vase, because it looked like a piece of framed art. And I also added the word "Create" , which was gifted to me by Ann in a recent Tea Party Tickle.

Beautiful, Peaceful scene you chose to represent here. And as artist's have come to know, the framing can be as important as the subject matter. The gilded antique look you created is just wonderful.

Your card is very stunning, I love all the detail in the frame and your write about about your art festival. The picture is really beautiful and gives a feel of what the festival is like.

Love the framed art theme going on here. I especially like the frame you created -- it was worth all the work, and the brads really look like the ey belong there.
