I chose something that has nothing to do with geraniums: https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/798614946420767632/
It has a lot to do with the color red and Memorial Day in the US. Since 1868, we have observed this day, formerly called Decoration Day, to honor and mourn those who died while serving in the US military. It is not a day for picnics, water sports, grilling out, although those activities do happen this weekend. If one doesn't do at least one thing to honor those, one hasn't observed Memorial Day. Every year, my family gathers at the WWII monument in my hometown for a service. A specific soldier is honored every year and this year we are honoring Albert Duwel, a Menomonee Falls resident who died during WWI. The American Legions gives out paper poppies because poppies were a common sight on the Western Front, but we always put a pot of bright red geraniums in front of the memorial. My Grandpa Meyer joined up during WWI but never went overseas.
This is also for this week's WCW. I enjoyed the painting process, although I wasn't sure if the artist ever let any layer dry first. I appreciate her just painting and letting us watch. I'm happy with the flowers and leaves, the pot is just ok. I did a bit of splattering.
Thanks for the challenges! I love the site today, just my style.

Oh, what a wonderful way to spend Memorial Day honoring and mourning those who served and died fighting in the US military. That is such a special and respectful thing to do and I commend you and your family. We must never forget. Your geraniums are beautiful and I like your pot, too. I have a thing about clay pots and love them.

A lovely reminder that we all need to celebrate Memorial day with remembrance. I too will be at a gathering of our town at a memorial wall in the center.
what a beautiful watercoloring you created - your blooms are lovely as well as the pot!

Very pretty, Jean. Your leaf work is fab and your flowers are well done. I had to draw in details on my flowers as I agree with you on her not letting things dry. You did a lovely painting. Lovely story too. Our town is so small we don't do anything for anything, but the town next to us does thousands of ceramic poppies and has a lovely ceremony. Super idea to bring geraniums and to meet up as a family. Hugz
