Stacy brought us a video on tips for using water color pencils.
I sketched out the birds and a few leaves using a very light yellow for the birds and a light green for the leaves. Continued to build up the layers of color using the techniques shown to us in the video provided. Not happy with the results.
Therefore I began to add paint using the direct to paint brush from the water color pencil. This enabled me to lighten the color for the leaves in the bg and add deeper color to the birds.
After playing with water color pencils I have found I enjoy the flow of the paints better using tube water colors.

Beautiful sketching and I love those birds. Good work on the challenge. Tube painting is my favorite, too, though enjoyed this.

Love your card, Ann. The birds are so well done, and I admire your plethora of leaves. I wouldn’t even have attempted this with watercolor pencils.(I don’t own any and have no plans on getting them) : )
