Well, I did try this the way it was shown in the video. but, I am guessing the scrubbing motion brush strokes and or the paper were not really doing it for me. I can tell you that things I paint on Arches cotton paper work better. So, I know it was not the brush or the paints. There are some process shots on the blog here. I am also thinking maybe this is one of those things that blends better larger. Thanks for this challenge Linda & tfl.

Your orange has a nice amount of depth. I agree with you about the paper. If I’m not going to use a lot of water the cheaper paper works. Thanks for creating the terrific sample.

Lots of wonderful depth with your orange, Stacy. I recently ordered a small journal that was Arches cold press w/c paper. I have enjoyed it so much.

You have figured out that the better the paper, the better the results. I have used my sketchbook at times and the paper is not Arches so results aren't there. And, trying to paint an image to fit on an A2 is really hard. Bigger allows us to blend and create a good wash. But, I do like how your orange turned out. I hope to have some time to paint soon so I can hop into this gallery.

I think it came out well, Stacy. I am with you on papers making a difference and also on the scrub blending technique - I struggled with that part a lot on this one. Hugz
