When I was a kid, I loved the Peanuts comics. However, after I grew older, I gave away all my Peanuts books except one -- The Peanuts Lunch Bag Cookbook. It's a collection of simple recipes that a kid could make for their bagged lunch. Being the first of what would eventually become my extensive cookbook collection, it has a lot of nostalgia for me.
Sadly, time takes its toll, and my little lunch bag cookbook is now falling apart. So I used one of its pages to make this card. Being old, the page was fragile, so I started by adhering it to some cardstock to give it strength.
This week's Teapot challenge is to use materials that spell out "CARE". I had "C" (cardstock), "A" (Adhesive) and "R" (rain)...but what about "E"? Looking around my craft room, I saw my embroidery threads. That would work! Using an awl and a self-healing mat, I punched rows of holes in the spaces between the comic panels, which I used for stitching with brown embroidery thread.
Finally, I added the sentiment, which was given to me by joella58 in a Welcome RAK she sent (thanks again!). On the inside of the card, it says "...or, at least, someone to hold an umbrella over your head."

Aw, how special that you used an old and treasured cook book. I'm impressed that the pages are still clean enough to use on a card. I try do hard to keep mine clean , but it only works if they are not on the same room as where I am coming! I do believe I have that last image as a rubber stamp. Very creative with the embroidery thread.
I did actually collect the entire set of books when they started releasing the complete Peanuts in hardback. It was two volumes a year for about 12 years, and I still do read through them occasionally.

Charlie Brown has the biggest heart and so do you sharing this precious keepsake with Christine. What a wonderful design and message for her -- friends are the best and stick with you even in the rainy days. Fabulous card.

This is so creative and I love that the images are from a vintage cookbook! Wonderful thinking to add the embroidery! And a fun inside sentiment makes this perfect.
