Chris is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she has really challenged me with her colors: Orchid Oasis, Parakeet Party, and Starry Sky. The dessert option is to add something warm. I'm hoping I qualify for desert with my sparkly gold "you."
I decided to use the gift die and stencil from the January "Let's Stamp Together" kit. I started with Bristol cardstock because I think inks blend better on it than regular cardstock. Since I was using dye inks, I needed all the help I could get! I ink blended, ever so lightly, with the three challenge colors, then used the same colors to ink heavily through the stencil. Then I die cut the shapes.
This card taught me, once again, that mistakes are merely opportunities for embellishment. There are tiny ink halo marks under the dot and star next to "for," neatly covered up. Even worse, I forgot to cut the shadow layer for "you," and glued the gold letters on the white layer, but the word looked terrible because it wasn't horizontal. No problem, I went back (next morning), peeled off the first "you," cut a new one AND the shadow layer, and voilà ! I'm finally happy with my card!
I'm eager to see what other paper artists create with these colors! Please join us!

SO PRETTY Barbara!! I love the presents in these bold colors- such a unique way to showcase the colors! And the glittery gold is a great addition as well!~

Well, I love how this turned out. The stenciled presents look great in the challenge colors. Your white embossed background really makes everything standout and adding a glittery gold sentiment is perfect. I used Bristol cardstock as well because of how it blends Stampin' Up inks.

You've handled these colors masterfully, Barbara. I found them a bit difficult too and did much like you did, keeping them rather simple. I think your background is perfect for those packages. I gave a gold die cut a try but my gold didn't work nearly as beautifully as your greeting does.

Super cute! Love it. Great idea to stencil and die-cut the presents in each of the challenge colors. The embossed background and dots are terrific. Love the warm, sparkly greeting!
