I saw the technique to use oxide inks on photo paper from Ardyth and Sasha Reade, and decided to try it. Once I'd inked through the stencil and blended the rest of the page, I let it dry. I then wiped the chalkiness off the surface with a damp paper towel, revealing a very rich and vibrant background. They said not to use glossy photo paper, but it's all I had, and it worked pretty well. The rest was just assemblage, as usual.
The big surprise is what colours are left behind when you wipe away the chalky residue of the oxide inks! On another attempt, a pale teal I used left behind a bright mustard yellow!! Ugh.
