This is for today's F4A, sponsored by Angie, to use something new...I used a new brush and some tube paints never opened.
I really enjoyed this painting for Wednesday's WCW. I took her advice to work small and not overdo (as best I could). I didn't paint any branches on the trees because it seemed busy enough. I wasn't that happy with the snow on the bottom, my blue was too strong so I used a bit of that white gouache to lighten the blue. I think it worked well. The water is a bit dark at the top, I started out too light with the first blue application and shadows, so they are barely there. But I'm quite pleased with this. Thanks for the challenges!

You should be incredibly pleased with this painting. It is lovely with the forest and birch trees. I like the darkness of the water. You worked magic on the small size of this painting. You have many details on a small canvas. Something I struggle to do. Thanks for adding this beauty to the gallery.

I think you did a wonderful job on this! I love your water. it looks deep and cold! I love the depth you got on your snow and your far tree line is fabulous! Your birch trees really do look sun dappled, with awesome shadows! Just beautiful!

What a wonderful painting. I like those trees and it even appears that some bark is missing on the two trees in the back making it so realistic. I did my water darker than I meant, also. Yours looks great. Wonderful distant trees. Awesome scene.
