I started this card sometime back but then put it aside, unsure of its direction. Now, this weekâs challenge which speaks of direction in life, has inspired me to finish it - so here it is, completed. The romantic side of me has always loved the classic movie, Around The World in Eighty Days, which was the initial inspiration for this card.
I printed a hot air balloon from the internet onto white cardstock, then wrapped it in vellum which I stamped the images on; the sentiment (lyric) was computer generated. I threaded a heart-shaped glass bead onto gold embroidery floss and adhered it behind the vellum-wrapped panel which was layered over the blue cardstock.
Iâm thrilled I finally found a purpose for this card and inspiration to finish it! Thank you Jean and Sabrina!

Oh you romantic you! I really like how you did this with the vellum overlay...it gives it a sort of dreamy atmosphere. Your theme of Around the World in 80 Days is perfect for a directional challenge. I'm glad you found a home for this and were able to complete it for our tickle.

That is a super montage/collage, whatever you wish to call it. The vellum adds such softness. I really like the two faces - and hot air balloons are always good for a feel-good factor. I'm not sure I've ever read the full version on Around the World - I'm pretty sure I saw the film as a child, and we had a beautiful illustrated children's version.

The vellum was perfect to create that dreamy look of lovers. Isn’t it just the best when a UFO becomes the whole focus at the perfect moment (direction). Gotta ❤️ the UFO’s.

I love your hot air balloon, I miss Florida seeing 25 hot air balloons in the air on Sunday mornings in Tampa. Each one was different colors and looked so regal floating in the air like yours does. I love the idea of stamping on vellum, such a wonderful card.

That song won the Academy Award for best song that year. I like the move too. I read the book for the first time this year, did you know there is no hot air balloon in the book? Really, truly. I was shocked. They traveled pretty normally except for the elephant. I love your card and the sentiment especially.
