I want to try to catch up with the WCW challenges I missed. This one was from 7/19, a Karen Rice video about mini abstracts for cards. It was a lot of fun and a great way to explore more with amounts of water, different tools, and no particular plans.
This is also for Ky's MIX today-she's crazy about birds, as am I. I thought the very traditional bird would look good on an abstract background. Why all the LP? Well, I heat embossed, not knowing what kind of paper the ai was on and it apparently doesn't like heat, as there is a thin crack. I probably drew more attention to it than if I had left it alone but I don't mind the dots of gold, since I used the gold cs. If it had cracked across the bird, I wouldn't have done it.
Tools for the wc that I used besides watercolors: wc pencil, spray bottle, white crayon for resist. salt, brushes for splattering. This was fun because you use tape to block off small areas of the paper and go to town with your mediums. I got four backgrounds out of it. I used the ai piece because my recent move has made me realize that I have to use pieces of ephemera. Thanks for the challenges. Of course I now have three more backgrounds to use...I'm hopeless.

Really gorgeous bg, not sure I know all the abbreviations but just stunning. I love the small piece too, and the crack would have added character, if you had wanted. I always find myself covering bits with dots, hahhaha, but in this case, you wouldn't have had to. JUST LOVELY as it is!! let me also say what a beautiful table you show in this photo, and figurine and orchid plant behind it. I feel like it must be a very comfortable, welcoming space. So enjoying browsing your gallery today. teresa
