I have been a small die of the month club member for almost a year and realized I have used less than half the dies, usually because I am just in a hurry and need faster cards, though I love the look of most of the dies and want to use them.
The latest one from July just arrived two days ago and I decided to jump on in because I love it and want to figure out how to use it somewhat efficiently to make Christmas cards.
It took me a couple of hours to put this one together! Now that was figuring out all the pieces and how they go together, deciding what colors and papers to use, a couple of false starts, and then finally assembling the whole thing into a card. A lot of those decisions will be made once with larger pieces of paper for mass production. In this case I was using scraps for the smaller bits. Even so, this will definitely be a LIMITED edition card design, not going out to my whole list.
It was fun to figure out, like a jigsaw. I am not sure I got all the poinsettia pieces correct but it is fun to figure out. I cut the tree frame piece twice, once from black cardstock and once from green. I put the black cutouts and green frame aside for another project. I cut just the wedge shape without the frame one more time from black cardstock and glued the frame on top. I got the green pieces into the frame and glued in place. I cut the flower pieces from two different scraps of pattern paper that have subtle watercolor patterns, one dark red and one deep rose. I assembled the flowers and glued in place on the green pieces. Then I cut the berries from glitter paper and glued them on. I cut the JOY tag, the star, and flower centers from gold cardstock and glued the flower centers onto the flowers.
I trimmed a piece of black and white patterned paper and mounted on a premade card front. I glued the finished tree in place and added the star. I cut another banner using the frame and glued the gold banner on top, then attached to the card. It needed a bit of something else to kind of ground it on the background so I cut a thin strip of the leftover red glitter paper and glued across the bottom of the card.
Whew! Challenging, but satisfying to figure out.

Wonderful Christmas card with the tree all decorated with beautiful die cuts of poinsettia’s and roses. The background paper goes so well and enhances your main design.
