I bought several cardmaking kits on clearance from Spellbinders a few months backâleftovers from one of their monthly clubs. I figured they would be good for making lots of cards for seniors without having to think to much about stuff to coordinate.
Our very own seniorâour housemateâs mom who we are all close withâhas her birthday tomorrow, so I took the opportunity to make up a card for her. I started with this sketch:
But as you can see I adapted it and moved some things around. I cut the strips for the background and glued them on. Then i noticed that the lengths didnât quite match up at the bottom so I moved the next element down! I originally cut a circle of the birthday patterned paper and was going to layer on the balloons but they didnât show up well, so I cut a smaller white circle to layer behind. Now you couldnât really see the birthday paper! So I added another circle to the sketch. I glued the balloons to the circle then used foam tape to pop up the circle and the strings of the balloons. I used the birthday die that domes with the kit to cut the greeting and glued it across the bottom of the card. Then, because I wanted a little more green to go with the background stripes, and also because Myearl loves cards with lots of stuff going on, I added the preprinted flag and small sentiment from the kit.inside I glued down one of the sentiment cards that came in the kit and stamped a birthday sentiment beneath it. A little busy but I know she will love it!
