Sketch Challenge hosted by Chrissy. I turned the sketch to portrait style and did something a little different.
We are celebrating our DD's birthday after work tomorrow because she is working an event on her birthday weekend. Today, I remembered that I needed to make her card. I wanted to do something special for her. She has been loving butterflies lately. When I saw the sketch, the wheels started turning. I thought to do a spinner card with a butterfly, even though it was my first time doing it.
I die-cut two butterflies in black. After running a white thread down the middle, I glued the butterflies together. Then, I die-cut a large circle from a thick white card base. I positioned it a little more to the top for the layout. I attached the thread ends in the middle at the top & bottom, making sure the butterfly could spin. The butterfly did need to be placed a little lower than the exact middle to allow for the wing tips to make it around. I die-cut some marble paper and glue it on the front. Inside, I layered another piece from the pack of paper.
Before putting in the envelope, I will twist up the butterfly. Then when the card is opened, the butterfly will spin. I used a little washi tape for a tab to help open the card without releasing the butterfly too soon. Since I will be giving this card in person instead of mailing, I could add some big rhinestones. Super fun to make.
Not as hard as I thought it would be. As the card sat propped open on my desk, the butterfly would spin on its own from the fan. I took a bunch of pictures while it was spinning. This is one of them. TFL

I predict that your DD will place this in a prominent place and enjoy her beautiful spinning butterfly over and over again! This is a beauty and truly a very special birthday card!
