I have to say this went better than expected since I haven't been able to paint much in the past few months. Sketched my birds (canaries?) on a branch then added color letting the water do most of the work to give the illusion of wings - especially on the center 3 birds. I used part of an old background stamp for the sentiment then doodled in some notes with a black sharpie. Die cut my panel and sponged blue around the edges both for definition and the illusion of sky.
I have to say IMO the side facing birds were much easier than the front facing bird . . . .

I agree with Anita love the attitude you created with your sketching of the birds. They are terrific and like the colors. Neat way to do the sentiment. It is so nice to have you join us again and share this lovely painting. They do remind me of canaries. Fav'd

Oh, I love your awesome painting and that it is a birthday card. The birds look like they are singing their hearts out with all the musical notes. The recipient is sure to love it.
