This week the Tea Party is headed to Dennis' home to help him celebrate a milestone birthday -- 80! He has many and varied interests and I went with his love of blue and cars. I asked my hubby to pick which car stamp out of my collection and he went with the 'Vette -- of course. He also told me they were usually white or red back then (and he was around to know), so I went with the white.
I started by ink blending an hombre bg then sprinkled with water. Embossed the 80 with the dies. Added the die cut/embossed hexagons and the fussy cut car. I didn't plan this design out and just did what I did as I did it. Hence, there really wasn't a good place for a sentiment strip. I wanted to say "Eat my Dust, Sucker"; but he's just getting a big embossed 80 instead.
I have no doubt that Dennis will have a fabulous celebration with his family and friends and I hope the many fun Tea Pot cards headed his way will add to the festivities. Hope you are having a festive day too. TFL

I LOVE, love that diamond plate EF - It always makes me think of my friend's truck bed and I think it's fab used with any vehicle oriented card. Super job embossing the 80 into your BG !

I am glad to know that I am not the only one who finds themselves stuck with a layout that doesn't accommodate a sentiment! I love the way this looks without any sentiment, though! The clear blue of the BG with the water sprinkles and embossed 80 looks so cool, and the trio of hexagons is a super panel behind the car!

This is great Debbie. Sometimes the best cards just morph as you go along - my cards start out like that often. The textured hexagons are the perfect touch. My dad (and Mom) have had many, many cars over the years but they never had a Corvette (although I always wanted one). Thank you for helping celebrate his milestone birthday.

A white Vette....very sporty for our octogenarian! I like the layout with the diamonds and the embossed 80...sometimes you don't need words or a saying. Fantastic card Debbie!

Gorgeous, gorgeous background, enhanced with the embossed 80. The white cat looks great. I watched American Graffiti recently and loved seeing all those old cars.
Oh, and the diamond plate embossing is perfect.
