My amaryllis bed already has many stalks and one bud that will open in the next few days.
I have always known and loved these, having transplanted an old variety from my mother in 1986 when we bought this, our 2nd house. They still thrive and somehow always bloom on Easter weekend!
Like most of you I spent many hours online in 2020 and discovered a YouTube phenomena, the Amaryllis Man. I bought an assortment of exotics from him and faithfully planted them in late Fall.
In February 2021 disaster struck in North Texas, as temperatures plummeted and the power grid totally failed. And right before that happened my bulbs had started poking through, no doubt confused by our erratic climate.
I spent what seemed like a month caging and blanketing the amaryllis bed every night, then uncovering if and when temperatures climbed to 40F so the leaves got needed sunshine. I was rewarded with many incredible blossoms in April, some similar to this card. Only one variety was lost and maybe some day I will replace it. For now I shall enjoy the survivors.

Your card was a labor of love ..... so gorgeous! Saving your bulbs during the harsh weather was another labor of love .... I'm so glad that you were so successful!!
